A group of students from Sandown’s The Bay CE Secondary School are one step closer to publishing a cookbook filled with recipes from a host of local businesses.
Consisting of Christopher, Laura, Hollie and Scarlett from Year 9, and Jamie from Year 10, Wight Bites entered the Young Enterprise Company Programme and recently earned investment after a successful Pitch to the Panel exercise led by Ed-WISE Isle of Wight.
With a foreword compiled by the Bishop of Portsmouth The RT Revd Dr Jonathan Frost, the book is set to compile a host of recipes from eateries across the Island including; Cafe Isola, The Garlic Farm, Poppins and many more. There are even a few recipes created and honed by the Wight Bites team themselves.
They have been supported by an appointed Business Advisor, Tracy Osborn from Quarr Abbey.
Within the book, the students say;
“We are so excited to have been given this opportunity and we would like to thank everyone who has helped with our project to produce the Wight Bites Cookbook. Without them we would not have reached this far.
“To everyone who has donated either sponsorship or recipes, we would like to give you a special thank you, as we would not have been able to reach our goals without you.”
