HM Coastguard are scouring a stretch of the beach at Ryde this afternoon (Thursday) in response to an ongoing welfare incident.
The alarm was raised at 13:54 with Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge, quickly responding to the incident.
A rendezvous point was established on the green next to Ryde Pier and Coastguard Officers began searching the beach between Ryde Harbour and Augusta Road.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is also in attendance.
It is unclear as to the exact nature of the incident at this time.
The incident remains ongoing.
