IW Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy and potentially thundery rain across the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Sunday) and into this evening.
Forecasters say that the rain will move in from the southwest in the next few hours, bringing torrential downpours to our shores. Anything from 10-20mm of rain could fall in a short space of time, accompanied by gusty winds.
Localised flooding in the usual prone locations is expected, with surface water and spray likely on the road network – along with field run-off debris such as soil, silt and stones.
The warning is in force from 13:00 until 19:00 today.
