Keeping up with modern technology to help promote a wider market brand for the Wightlink Warriors has been a key objective from day one for co-promoters of Island Speedway, Martin Widman and Barry Bishop.
Working alongside their media partners at Speedwayportal.com, the Warriors fans and sponsors will now have an easier and more convenient access to the Warriors home meetings, while at the same time offering the conventional methods of purchasing DVD’s of the on-track action.
Barry said:
“This technology will bring the Warriors bang up to date with the latest media distribution options. Speedwayportal.com will enable fans to buy the Warriors home meetings and watch them when and where they want to, at the same time preventing redistributing or copying of the footage. So while many fans still want to take advantage of DVD’s, our digital channel will allow freedom to watch the meetings on media devices all over the world.”
Andy from Speedwayportal.com said:
“The digital world has changed so much in the last 10 years or so, and continues to change day by day. We feel it is imperative that our sport offers this service not only for the Warriors, but for every club, and its riders, throughout the world.
“Nowadays it is not uncommon to find family members “double screening” on tablets or mobile devices, while also watching the television, leading us to believe that speedway has to think about ways to give the fans what they want, when they want it and in the way they want it. The importance of traditional methods such as DVD’s etc still has a big part to play but to move into the future we need to adapt.
“Working very closely with the Warriors promoters, we will ensure what we produce for them helps promote the club, its sponsors and the sport in the correct way.
“The importance of sponsorship for any club or rider is huge. This service, working closely with the club and riders, ensures that their sponsors gain more exposure, worldwide, at the same time allowing fans to watch previous meetings whilst travelling by car, train, tube, or bus, as well as in the comfort of their own home in any room. The technology has been there for a long while, so we are not re-inventing the wheel, just making it spin. This is the way forward, and we are buoyant that Martin and Barry are in agreement and are working together with us to ensure the club continues to grow.”
The Wightlink Islanders will be opening their home National League campaign on Thursday night against the Stoke Potters at the Andrew Younie Smallbrook stadium. Tapes up at 19:00.
