The Wightlink Warriors speedway team stage their next home meeting tomorrow (Thursday) when the Kent Kings visit in a National League fixture.
After the frustrations of the last home meeting against Birmingham, the not unexpected defeat at Belle Vue and the recently wasted trip to Mildenhall which saw the match called off due to an electricity failure, the Warriors will be out to register their second league win.
The Kent Kings, who always provide entertaining opposition on the Island, have carefully assembled a side blending the experience of Luke Bowen and Ben Hopwood with the raw talent of 15-year-old Anders Rowe who impressed at Smallbrook at the Young Lions winter training camp.
The Warriors will not want a repeat of last week’s pre-match drama when contractual issues led to Tyler Govier withholding his services leaving just a 6 man team to battle on. This week, the 6 who did take part will be joined by the unattached Alex Spooner guesting at reserve, a well earned booking on the back of a determined showing at Belle Vue last Friday.
With the weather looking to be set fair, the Warriors management are encouraging people to come along and really get behind the home riders as they look to halt the disappointing run of results.
Gates open at the Andrew Younie Smallbrook stadium at 17:30; the rider parade is at 18:45 with the first race at 19:00.
