A car has managed to destroy a brick wall and metal gate in an incident that occurred on the Esplanade in East Cowes earlier today (Saturday).
The incident occurred at some point this morning at the Esplanade car park just next to the East Cowes Sailing Club Dinghy Park.
A character wall has been smashed and the gate stopping entry to private land knocked over.
It is believed the vehicle involved was a Range Rover and that it sustained heavy front end damage as a result of the incident.
Operatives from Island Roads have been down to the site this lunch time, erecting red barriers to stop people from gaining access.
It is understood the relevant insurance parties have been contacted.
Such a historical wall, hope they get all that’s needed to make it look the same as it was before the demolition
