Dozens of classic tractors are set to take to Island roads next weekend as the Vectis Vintage Tractor & Engine Club holds its annual charity run in aid of the Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group.
Taking place on Sunday (12th October), the popular event will see vintage machines gather at Arreton Barns before setting off on a scenic route across the Island at 10:30, returning at around 15:00.
The convoy will pass through a number of picturesque and historic locations, including Barton Manor, Quarr Abbey, Brading Down Viewpoint and Arreton Down. Drivers will enjoy a lunch stop at Reynolds and Read on Newnham Road, with a short pitstop at Brading Down before heading back to Arreton Barns for the finish.
Organisers say they are hoping to attract at least 35 tractors this year, with both road and off-road sections included to make the run enjoyable for participants and spectators alike.
Funds raised from the day will go towards supporting the Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group, helping local men and their families affected by the disease.
A spokesperson for the club said:
“We’ve put together a fantastic route with some great views and iconic Island landmarks. It’s all for a really worthwhile local cause, and we’re hoping for a strong turnout of tractors and supporters.”
The Vectis Vintage Tractor & Engine Club has been running charity events for many years, bringing together enthusiasts while raising thousands of pounds for local causes.
