Record numbers flocked to Vernon Square in Ryde as soaring temperatures helped make this year’s annual Summer Party one of the most successful to date.
The annual event, organised by the Vernon Square Conservation Society, raised funds to support the not-for-profit community organisation’s ongoing care of the town’s popular gardens, which are open free of charge from spring through to autumn.
For just £3 admission, visitors enjoyed an afternoon of live entertainment from Vectis Brass, The Rug Band and local favourites The Watch, while making the most of the sunny weather in the picturesque garden setting.
A selection of Pimm’s, homemade lemonade, Italian lager, wine and Prosecco proved popular throughout the day, alongside an array of homemade cakes.
Visitors also enjoyed browsing the book stall and taking part in the society’s popular raffle, which featured prizes donated by a range of local businesses.
Among the prizes were a dining voucher from RT Grill, gift vouchers from Mia and Sugar & Spice, a family cinema trip courtesy of Ryde Commodore, Mermaid Gin, a sharing platter from Pickle & Dill, Bloody Hell Sauce made in Ryde and a basket of summer fruits from The Vegetable Cart.
Money raised from the event will help the Vernon Square Conservation Society continue maintaining the historic gardens for residents and visitors to enjoy.
