The main road linking St Helens and Seaview is to be closed for up to 5 days, just as Islanders and holidaymakers prepare for the start of the summer holidays.
Gas network operator SGN has confirmed it will close Eddington Road, opposite Kenneth House, from Tuesday 21st July.
It is so engineers can connect a property to the gas network.
The temporary closure is expected to remain in place for up to 5 days and comes at one of the busiest times of the year on the Isle of Wight, with schools breaking up for the Summer and visitor numbers increasing significantly.
While access to the nearby holiday park will be maintained, motorists are being encouraged to avoid the area where possible as the works are carried out.
An SGN spokesperson has said:
“We appreciate these works may be disruptive for the community. We assure you our engineers will be working as quickly and as safely as possible to complete these works.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience these works may cause, and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.”
