A van and a car have been destroyed by fire on the driveway of a home in Gunville overnight.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the fire on Broadwood Lane at just before midnight, with 2 appliances from Newport mobilised to the scene.
Both vehicles – a Citroen Belingo and a Hyundai Getz – have been damaged beyond repair.
Crews used hose reel jets and breathing apparatus into the early hours of this morning (Saturday) to bring the flames under control.
It appears the fire broke out within the engine bay of the Belingo, with the flames and intense heat then causing damage to the Getz parked beside it.
Luckily, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished before it could completely engulf both vehicles and before it could spread to the family home just feet away.
