Celebrating local heroes, Vectis Radio has confirmed the 4th annual Isle of Wight Community Awards will take place next year.
The awards will once again take place at Caffe Isola in Newport, on Friday 27th March 2026.
The Community Radio Station is offering a chance for all Island-based community organisations, charities and individuals to be publicly recognised for the valuable work that they do in our community.
The awards are open to any charity, individual or community (non-profit) organisation based on the Isle of Wight and are split into several categories which have been reviewed and revised for this year:
• Community Project Of The Year
• Village Hero Award
• Sports Coach/Leader Of The Year
• Animal Impact Award
• Young Person Of The Year (Under 18)
• Fundraising Award
• Volunteer Of The Year
• Island School/Club Achievement
• Good Neighbour Of The Year
• Overall Champion Award (Decided by Public Vote)
Event organiser Maggie Currie said:
“Following feedback from the very successful event we held in 2025, and with detailed input from our panel of judges, the categories have been revised for this year. For the Overall Champion Award, our judges will select four finalists who will be announced in advance of the ceremony in March and will be voted on by the public.
“More than ever in these difficult times, community organisations don’t have money to spare so we wanted to hold an evening event once again that would fit the pockets of those who would like to come along and celebrate the Isle of Wight Community without breaking the bank. For that reason, the entries to the categories are free and event tickets are being kept to a low price, all thanks to the generosity of the team at Caffe Isola.”
Station Manager, Ian Mac, said:
“Vectis Radio has been part of the island community since we started in 2010 and we are always aiming higher to do more for our community.
“Following the success of the awards in the last few years, we are excited to announce that the awards continue once more in 2026, and we invite all community organisations to apply and help celebrate the amazing and work done solely for the benefit of island residents. I am truly humbled by the effort made by some organisations and individuals.”
Entries need to be submitted by midnight on 30th January 2026. Application forms can be obtained by emailing [email protected].
