Much-loved Island marching band, Vectis Corps of Drums, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Carnivals across the Island were back in full swing over the summer, and the band attended numerous events throughout the season.
The Vectis Corps of Drums pride themselves on being able to adapt their performances based on their audience. Alongside the traditional marches that you would hear at events such as the remembrance parade in Newport, listeners are also able to hear more recognisable tunes such as the YMCA and Sweet Caroline amongst songs in their impressive repertoire.
Since the end of the carnival season, the band has returned to their weekly practice and has welcomed a large number of new members, varying in age and musical ability. As a charity, the band relies on support from the community to be able to provide uniforms, instruments and tuition to the new members.
The popular marching band is holding its 30th anniversary presentation evening on the 19th November to celebrate the contribution its members have made, and to assist them in raising funds for the band, will be holding a raffle on the 13th December which has been largely supported by local businesses.
They also have a live go fund me page for local donationshttps://www.gofundme.com/f/vectis-corps-of-drums?qid=720b4ffc1c9f8bee8581ac21e9a0061f.

Would like to also add that Vectis Corps of Drums have been playing at off island carnivals as well this year & came home from Shaftsbury carnival with the award for Best Band & were also given a brilliant report from them for the the display & musical entertainment they gave the crowds.
Saw/heard them at Ventnor carnival this year – performance was up to their usual (high) standard. Congratulations and well done to all involved, both in the band and behind the scenes.
