Vandalism ‘beyond anything we have seen before’ has forced the closure of public toilets at Appley. Ryde Town Council has taken to social media to share a video showing the damage caused to the men’s toilets at Appley Park. It’s thought that the act of vandalism occurred at some point over the weekend. The damage caused includes cubicles being smashed to pieces, doors kicked in and toilet paper thrown across the floor. Councillor Karen Lucioni has said that the vandalism is beyond anything seen before and has asked for anyone with information to contact her as the ward councillor. Just 2 weeks ago Island Echo reported that 2 large holes had been smashed in the tiles at Eastern Gardens toilets, rendering the men’s loos out of action.
