Island Line trains are terminating at Ryde Esplanade until further notice due to high sea levels and overall poor weather conditions.
Trains are unable to serve Ryde Pier Head due to waves overlapping the pier structure.
The disruption to Island Line means those travelling via Wightlink’s catamaran service will have to make their own way down the pier to dry land.
All trains running between Shanklin and Ryde will terminate at the Esplanade until further notice.
Earlier today it was confirmed that £26million of funding to upgrade Island Line has been unlocked thanks to a £1million of additional investment from Solent LEP and the Isle of Wight Council.
UPDATE @ 19:15 – Island Line trains are now operating normally.

James Bond had an underwater car in the 70’s but we’re stuck in the Victorian age with trains that can’t dip their toes in the sea.
Because electricity and water don’t make a good mix
Just spotted Jenny Agutter and Bernard Cribbins on the train
You know ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ was not a documentary, right?
@Sonic there was no fancy SFX back in them days however?
@Zips It’s “Prat” with one T, but I do understand English is a very fluid language grammatically. And as for my grammer, I’ve been on the Smirnoff and coke so forgive me for my speeling
More bad train drivers..
I big shout out to the guard of the train that waited for the late 17:40 boat. I know it’s not always possible but you made the difference and Islandline trains should be thanked when they do, despite the idiot that got on at St John’s Bridge tapping his watch complaining the train was three minutes late.
More bad passenger’s..
