Failure of a set of traffic lights in Shanklin Old Village is causing significant travel delays in and around the town this afternoon (Sunday).
The temporary set of lights on Church Road, in place due to WightFibre works, have failed staying on red for long periods of time.
As a result, delays are being experienced on both the High Street and Chine Avenue as well as Church Road.
Southern Vectis Route 3 buses are facing delays and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Contractors are currently working to resolve the issue.

Crumbs traffic light failure that will go into the history books for the children
shytefibre causing more chaos
the Contractors should be there all day and night till the work is done not did a hole then leave it that is what island roads do
Is it worse than the q’s to get into Ryde drive thru McDonalds on” Divorced Dads day Saturday” each week. Blocking the road back to Westridge lights and beyond. Good knows what it will be like when Penny feather village adds another 1000 odd cars to the mix
Well done island echo the Old Thatch Teashop has been painted pink for the last few years yes the traffic lights are there today but what photo are you using .?
Trying to get out of Ventnor is itself a nightmare at the moment. Then heading north a 25 minute delay trying to get through the lights at Shanklin Road/Whiteley Bank round causing chaos in the mornings, and alternative route via Shanklin also a headache.
The whole island is mired in roadworks.
A3054, Ryde to Newport should be classified as a construction site. IR still building a wall for 86 days. Then Southern Water, repairing main that IR bust for 2 weeks, followed by IR for another 34 days of traffic lights. Just one example of one road over a length of 500 metres. Doubtless our fibre company will be back soon.
