Armed Police, several other officers and paramedics rushed to a former hotel in Sandown earlier on tonight (Thursday) after a man is alleged to have made ‘threats to life’.
A number of Police units and crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service quietly arrived at the former Cygnet Hotel on Carter Street at around 19:30.
At least 2 armed officers entered the property on the corner of The Broadway with support from local dog units. Response & patrol colleagues were also on hand.
According to witnesses, the incident came about as a male resident at the B&B ‘made threats to blow someone’s legs off’.
Emergency services were on scene for around 45 minutes.
It is unknown at this stage if any arrests were made.
UPDATE FRIDAY – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed they were called to Carter Street as concerns were raised for the welfare of a man aged in his 40s.
No weapon was located and further action is being taken, a spokesperson for the force has said.
