A man arrested on suspicion of the rape of a woman at Thorness Bay has been released by officers.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police erected a cordon around a stretch of beach after a woman reported she had been seriously sexually assaulted by a member of the group she was with in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday).
A 24-year-old man from Glasgow was subsequently arrested on suspicion of serious sexual assault but has now been released under further investigation.
Enquiries continue and the alleged victim is being supported by officers.
