Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat has provided assistance to a 45ft Sunseeker motor boat that struck a rock at the end of The Needles earlier this afternoon (Monday).
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the All Weather Lifeboat at around 12:40 after reports were received that the luxury vessel had come into contact with an object in the water.
The Severn-class lifeboat was quickly on scene and towed the casualty vessel to the safety of Yarmouth Harbour. A passing boat stopped at the scene to assist in the first instance.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were subsequently tasked to rendezvous with the stricken boat and its crew, who escaped any injury. Safety advice was given by the Coastguard at the harbour.
Today’s shout comes less than 24 hours after another luxury motor boat hit Bembridge Ledge on the opposite side of the Island, prompting assistance from Bembridge RNLI.

How many times do you hear of this happening as you buy or hire any size boat without having passed a test to prove you are capable of driving it

Not as many times as car drivers have incredible accidents ( or acts of stupidity) and the Do have a licence!
chart plotter, charts, May be a good idea. Goose rock is not a hazard you want to hit. Best go and get some chart work done and plot you course. Best all round.
