Southern Vectis is marking Mother’s Day this year by offering Isle of Wight youngsters the chance to take their mums on the bus for free.
The local bus operator will provide complimentary travel for mothers travelling on Sunday 15th March – as long as they are accompanied by a child buying a Child Rover ticket from the driver or via the operator’s app.
Nikki Honer, Head of Communications for the bus operator, says:
“Mother’s Day is about spending time together as a family – and many children like to treat their mums to a well-deserved day out – perhaps into town, to the cinema, or for a meal.
“Southern Vectis wants to help them do this by providing transport for their special occasion. Our team is looking forward to seeing lots of mums out-and-about, being treated by their children on 15 March – and we hope they all have have a brilliant day together.”
Initial suggestions are that Southern Vectis’ new fleet of electric buses will be introduced to the network, on some routes, this coming Sunday.

Great idea, but Double Decker buses will still
be only a 1/4 full if that.
I pay attention when I see a bus and they only have an
handful of passengers on board.
