The owners of 3 independent shops in Ryde recently joined forces to raise money for the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, completing a ‘bear’ foot walk as part of a campaign to raise funds for Benji and Balu, 2 brown bears from Azerbaijan.
Tina from Bellissima, Jayne from No 66 Cards & Gifts and Sheila from Sugar & Spice Lingerie were joined by around 30 others in completing a walk from the Sanctuary in Yaverland through to the Salix Café in Shanklin – and back again – on Sunday 29th September.
Monies were collected by registering for the walk, from customers at The Salix and by donations given along the route. £616 has been raised in total.
Tina Lettington of Bellissima has said:
“Thanks to everyone that turned out and all those that came together in support of the event. We are so pleased to have contributed ourselves to the Bear appeal”.
Wildheart Animal Sanctuary needs to raise £150,000 to build a 3,500-metre habitat for Benji and Balu before they can be brought to their forever home on the Isle of Wight.
