A second wide-spread powercut has hit the Isle of Wight this morning (Wednesday), this time affecting central and eastern parts of the Island.
As previously reported, Freshwater suffered a major power cut which resulted in 154 postcode areas being without power.
Now, at 01:57, a second major fault has been identified, this time affecting 123 postcode areas in and around Newport, Pan, Downend, Newchurch, Queen Bower, Alverstone, Winford, Apse Heath, Whiteley Bank, Godshill, Rookley, Merstone, Arreton & Brighstone.
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks engineers working to locate the fault, which they hope to have power restored by 08:00.
“We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.
“Our engineers are on-site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

UPDATE @ 02:42 – Power has now been restored to the affected properties in the central and eastern parts of the Island.
Supplies in Freshwater remain off at present.
