Over 200 residents accessed support from the Library-based Ryde Information Support Service (RISS) last month as the free community initiative continues to assist people across the Isle of Wight with everyday tasks and essential applications.
The RISS offers practical and friendly help to individuals who may struggle to complete forms, access online services or navigate official processes.
The service operates from Ryde Library on Monday between 10:00-15:00, Tuesday between 09:00-15:00 and Friday between 09:00-15:00. Additional sessions are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 17:00-19:00 and on the first Saturday of each month from 10:00-12:00.
Residents have sought help with a wide range of issues, including preparing CVs, applying for postal votes, placing newspaper notices online, requesting repeat prescriptions, renewing driving licences, obtaining translations of foreign marriage certificates and applying for replacement vehicle logbooks.
The service has also supported people with more complex applications, including benefits and tax matters.
Steve and Anne, have said:
“Thank you so much for helping us with internet regarding our application for Universal Credit! And Council Tax Support! We wouldn’t have done this without your time and assistance.”

I hope this service wasn’t started because of migrants while long term residents have struggled alone before or is just to give under employer councils employees something to do? I thought CAB already provided this service. Let’s see how can you waste more?
If you can’t figure out how to apply for a postal vote something tells me you shouldn’t be voting
