There has been a lucky escape for residents in Ventnor after a large rock the size of a small car fell into the road earlier today (Sunday).
No one has been injured and no property has been damaged in the rockfall at Steephill Court Road.
It was lucky for local homeowners that no vehicles were parked on the section of carriageway above Undercliff Drive, with cars parked elsewhere along the residential street.
The large rock – and several smaller rocks – have fallen away from a section of exposed rock directly underneath a luxury property.
Island Roads have barriered off the immediate area. The road remains open.
