Plans to tackle another problem part of Great Preston Road in Ryde today (Tuesday) have been delayed until Thursday.
Work at the Westridge end of the busy road was due to start this morning but has been pushed back to Thursday and Friday instead.
Island Roads’ work to improve Great Preston Road in Ryde is said to be ahead of schedule and as a result, it has been decided that work will be carried out at the Westridge end of the road too, which has deteriorated badly in recent weeks.
Between Thursday 9th and Friday 10th February, the section of carriageway between Westridge Cross and Smallbrook Lane will be resurfaced, although not to the same extent as works at the opposite end of the road.
The work on the additional section will take place between 07:30 and 17:00.
Residents have received letters highlighting the scheme and its impact on them.
Await the S.A misery who thinks it owns the parking rights yet only rents the H.A home, demanding yellow lines and beings disrespectful to the hard working family who funds her and others subsidised housing, whom have necessity to on odd occasions park briefly with a wheel or two on the kerb..

Persons renting or owning their homes ‘DO NOT’ own the Pavement outside their
Property.
Many idiots think they do, hence them being inconsiderate to others and bringing a
Road to a standstill, also blocking pedestrian walkways cor people to safely use.
Any vehicle parking on a pavement should be towed away immediately.
The only vehicles parking on pavements should be Emergency services
and when food deliveries are being made.
The hardworking family you keep talking about park vehicles on the pavement 24/7
Just because they might be short of brains, they should not be allowed to affect
Islanders who respect other people.
Reg for years many of the Islands roads have been some of the worst in the
Country.
I thought when Island Roads took over, things would be better, but they took on
previous employees from numerous Companies who were no good in the past
at looking after roads etc
Roads aren’t repaired because they spend too much time on pavements and sideroads which are not in need of repair.Generally, in my opinion, the management of our roads is an absolute disgrace.
Gerrard what does hard working have to do with Double Yellow Lines being placed?
Double Yellow Lines are placed along Roads for Safety, not so hard working families
can park on pavements making roads and pavements UNSAFE for others.
Read the Highway Code Matey, you might then understand what Roads are for and what Pavements are for.
Also pavements are Public Highways, they were never designed for vehicles.

How is parking briefly when a yellow car parks on the pavement for
I would estimate 14 + Hours at a time.
I say 14+ Hours because when I walk home from work and when I walk back to work the next
morning the car is still parked on the pavement.
That young lady driver has problems walking due to tattooed swollen legs chaffing as she also has an eating disorder.
This was mentioned before on here, so show a little compassion as she is a young Mother and still doesn’t claim disability parking despite her problems.
She suffers in silence unlike others.
If she claimed for disability then her car would be still taking up a space.
Why not park on the drive then and not on the pavement affecting
persons who do have to claim for disability, so they are able to get along the pavement safely.
Surely whoever is living in the household would move one of their vehicles
to help the young mother who is suffering in silence.
They obviously do not care!

Can understand people slating the tax credit sponging part time workers who drive and park wherever they want, using one or more of their state funded offspring as a shield and excuse for fudging the laws and rules.
Yet this young lady works hard, despite her ailment(s).
A bright yellow car shows up on a fairly straight bit of road.
I have seen her legs and they are black and blue yet she still works and claims no benefits.
So people try focusing your spite on those who sponge, claim disability or move from other lands to take our homes and then have the audacity to treat the locals as they no doubt did the ethnics in their own land.

Instead of doing a proper job of resurfacing the whole road, which is a mess throughout its length, all this will result in is a patchwork of repairs which if to the same standard as many of Isle of Wight Roads works up until now will be in a bigger mess after a very short while.
The shoddy works carried out by wightfibre are already causing the pavements to break down with gullies forming due to poor backfilling.
Just like Partlands road. Permanent off roading at one end, despite being repaired half a dozen times.
although not to the same extent as works at the opposite end of the road.
Patched up in other words then and done again in 1 years time
The sooner Double Yellow Lines are placed along Great Preston Road
the better for everyone.
Great Preston Road is an heavily used Road with Lorries and Fire Engines etc
regularly going into Nicholson Road 24 Hours a day.
When Morons who live in the Council Houses along Great Preston Road park on the
Pavement, it’s makes it very dangerous for vehicles to pass safely.
Also many dog walkers, Mum’s with prams and Disability scooters are unable to walk or get along safely along Great Preston Road due to Morons parking on Pavements.
Ban Pavement Parking is the only Answer.
When this is finished will I be able to get a ton plus out of my old Skoda on this road?
I would imagine so.
Most vehicles drive along this Road at
at least 50mph+
Zero traffic law down this Road, never see a speed van parked along
this Road.
Speed Humps shouod be placed length of Great Preston Road
IF Island roads left the pot holes, then eventually traffic would have to drive slowly.
Perhaps the yellow car contains a hidden camera and evidence is being collected by its ‘apparent’ long term parking.
Every story on roadworks in Ryde on IE gets hijacked by people going on and on about people parking on pavements, double yellow lines and some yellow car! None of which are mentioned in the original story!
It seems some persons have a problem with law abiding persons from S.A

stop hearing about yellow lines and yellow cars.
