Adverse weather conditions with winds gusting up to 65mph have forced the suspension of both Red Jet and Hovertravel services this morning (Friday).
Hovertravel hasn’t operated their Ryde to Southsea service since yesterday afternoon owing to the strong winds. It is unlikely that the hovers will be back on this morning.
Now, Red Funnel has confirmed that their hi-speed Red Jet service from West Cowes to Southampton has also been suspended until further notice.
Wightlink’s services are running as normal, although some delays may be experienced.
A yellow weather warning for strong gales is in force until 21:00 tonight, although the winds are expected to drop as the day goes on.
UPDATE @ 08:10 – Red Funnel says that their 08:30 vehicle ferry sailing from East Cowes and the 10:00 from Southampton are delayed by around 30 minutes due to the high winds.
Wightlink are now advising of 15 minute delays on their Yarmouth-Lymington service.
UPDATE @ 12:20 – Cross-Solent operator Wightlink has announced cancellations on its car ferry service between Yarmouth and Lymington this afternoon. The 13:05, 14:05, and 15:05 sailings from Yarmouth have been cancelled, alongside the 14:00, 15:00, and 16:00 departures from Lymington.
Meanwhile, Red Funnel has announced delays of around 60 minutes on the East Cowes to Southampton vehicle ferry.
