Red Funnel has announced a new Red Jet timetable for its West Cowes-Southampton route, offering passengers more frequent crossings.
The new timetable will take effect from Monday (11th April) and adds a total of 40 additional crossings to the operator’s timetable over the week.
During the peak Monday to Friday morning commute, Red Jet crossings from West Cowes will depart every 35 minutes starting at 06:05 through to 09:35, and from Southampton every 35 minutes between 05:30 and 09:00. On weekdays, the Red Jet peak evening service will start at 15:35 from West Cowes, with crossings every 35 min up to 19:05. From Southampton, crossings will be offered every 35 min, starting at 15:00 through to 18:30.
The last crossings of the day (7 days a week) will depart at 23:10 from Southampton and 23:45 from West Cowes.
The timetable adjustments will also enable greater connectivity for customers travelling to/from London via South Western Railway. Red Funnel’s Quayconnect bus service timetable will also be updated to reflect the new Red Jet arrival and departure times.
Fran Collins, Chief Executive at Red Funnel, said:
“We are delighted to add additional crossings to our Red Jet timetable as we support growth in demand following the removal of travel restrictions, more customers returning to work, and the start of our traditionally busy late spring and summer season. Our teams will be ‘all hands on deck’ to deliver our expanded service, and we are looking forward to welcoming more passengers back on board.”
Red Jet 4 has now returned to service after undergoing successful sea trials and Red Jet 6 is due to return to service later this month, after undertaking her mandatory annual refit.
Is this just smoke and mirrors?
Are Red Funnel actually just restoring the schedule they SHOULD have been running without all of their ‘technical’ and ‘operational’ difficulties?
Whoopy, 40 extra crossings a week.
Also known as a SUMMER Time Table.
There is no such thing as a summer timetable for the RedJet.
Really…?……yawn.
Are you as boring as your name suggests ?
Not adding 40 trips, just switching to summer time table. Because in the winter, when the tourists leave, they screw us with an awful service.
There is no such thing as a summer timetable for the RedJet.
Yes, we heard you the first time.
BORING geek. zzzzzz.
A lovely fat profitable Easter week. Breakdowns and crew shortages will disappear like magic. Wightlink to follow suite?
Yeah get all the holibobs over and the 2nd homeowners who will rush to buy anti mould paint and lots of bleach to clean all the dirt and filth off their walls.
Normal services will be resumed by all cross solent operators. Normal service being delays and cancellations, when all essential members of staff mysteriously disappear.
An “extra” 40 services? That’s assuming they can find a boat and a crew.
Why is the last red jet later from Cowes. Who from Southampton has a night out in Cowes? Makes it difficult getting back from gigs and often miss the end to get the last red jet back.
I presume it is because that is where they are docked overnight, same as wightlink cat in Portsmouth.
So many selfish twats on this site at the moment.
As they can’t find enough staff to run the current service, where are the new staff coming from?.
Funny when they’ve just cancelled some crossings today (6th) because of not enough crew. So where are they getting the crew for 40 extra sailings? The company is a joke.
Bring the prices down and you might get more passengers.
Until they suffer “technical issues”of course and I doubt that won’t take long!!
Bridge or tunnel please??
