Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised to a flatbed recovery truck on fire – with a 4×4 on the back also going up in flames – in Sandown this lunchtime (Sunday)
2 fire appliances from Sandown and Shanklin have been mobilised to College Close industrial estate off Avenue Road.
Black smoke can be seen billowing into the sky as crews work to extinguish the blaze.
The flatbed 3.5t recovery truck from a local motor trader became engulfed in flames at around 12:00. Subsequently, a Land Rover Freelander on the rear is now also alight.
Retained firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) are using hose reel jets (HRJs) to extinguish the double-vehicle fire.
UPDATE: The fire has now been extinguished by fire crews leaving burnt-out remains of the flatbed van and 4×4.

I was round my garage on the old laundry site and I heard a loud pop then saw loads of thick black smoke hope it hasn’t damaged to many cars on the car lot next to it
Just when you thought that your breakdown couldn’t get any worse!
Oh no, what bad luck.
A workout out flatbed, and an old Freelander both written off!!
What are the chances of that happening
