Poundland’s move from its current position on Ryde High Street to the site of the former Woolworths store – and most recently M&Co – has now been confirmed.
The change of premises was revealed at the end of July, as reported in Island Echo.
A planning application has now been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council, to install signs on its proposed new building. The national chain is asking permission to advertise its store as soon as possible.
A statement – submitted to the council by planning agents HLP Ltd – said the shop frontage needs to be changed as the new occupants need to show their Poundland signage.
You can view the plans, 23/01335/ADV, on the Isle of Wight Council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until 9th September.

M&Co went into administration before Christmas last year, with all of its shops nationally closing in April.
There is no mention in the planning documents of what will happen to Poundland’s current store on the High Street.
Plans had also been lodged with the Isle of Wight Council to demolish half of the M&Co store and build houses in the delivery yard, although they have yet to be determined.

Lets hope we get something other than a charity shop, a bookies or another vape shop replacing their old premises.
I’m glad it’s been confirmed as they’ve started work on it . Be a bit embarrassing if they said no now
