An investigation has been launched into a reported attempted rape at an address in Sandown.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place at a property on Fort Street earlier today (Wednesday).
Hampshire Constabulary received a report of a sexual offence having been committed at 12:53 this afternoon and deployed officers to the scene.
The victim is being supported at this time and is assisting Police with their enquiries.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“We are carrying out initial enquiries at this time to establish the exact circumstances”.
UPDATE FRIDAY – A 54-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
He has been released on conditional bail until Wednesday 18th May.

The article does not state if it was a male or a female that was the alleged victim or the alleged perpetrator.
Could be male on male or vice versa.
