A cordon has been established around a homeless encampment in East Cowes this morning (Saturday).
Police have sealed off a section of woodland at the Esplanade, close to the paddling pool.
Officers are currently standing guard around a number of tents in amongst the trees.
Island Echo understands the cordon is ‘precautionary’ at this time and relates to an assault investigation.
UPDATE @ 09:15 – A 43-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have both been arrested on suspicious of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, according to Police.

Local council have been given a huge amount of money for the homeless. There is always a
percentage of people who still want to live outside.
That’s absolute rubbish they gave me a tent last month it wasn’t fun at all. Luckily I found a room in a shared house council did nothing to help me
Is good also that they gave you internet access and a means to share your point of view.
So I understand the council has removed the funding to Calvert’s hotel and they were all made to leave
Well said LEE need to look after our own
Fully agree as do MOST right minded people. It is only the fact that the media are so pressured to not allow the silent or now ‘silenced’ majority to speak out about such concerns in this over PC country now.
Completely agree with all the comments. Although I can’t help but wonder how the comment section would look if this took place in a homeless encampment in Ryde and not Cowes.
I wonder how many none British have to live in tents
