Police responded to a wrecked car left abandoned in a field on the outskirts of Arreton this afternoon (Sunday).
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary – including the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) – responded to the scene on Hale Common just after 14:20 this afternoon (Sunday).
It is believed that the car, a silver Peugeot 206, which was travelling towards Arreton from Apse Heath, mounted the verge before crashing through a hedge rolling over and coming to rest in an upright position in a field halfway between The Fighting Cocks and Leslies Suzuki.
Wheel tracks can be seen on the grass and a large gap in the bare hedge where the car entered the agricultural land is also visible.
It is unclear when the crash occurred with it possible it happened overnight or in the early hours of this morning.
UPDATE ON MONDAY – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that they have spoken to the driver involved and that no injuries were reported.
You see there’s your problem. Good people don’t walk away.

I saw the car. In the field. Blimey hope they are ok. On another issue I hope the ‘farmers’ stop flayling the hedges looks horrible and poor hedges look like a car crash.
