Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is responding to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, where a partial evacuation is underway this afternoon (Monday).
3 appliances from Newport and Cowes and an Aerial Ladder Platform from Newport are currently in attendance at the hospital off Parkhurst Road.
Crews have entered the building through the main entrance, but it is unclear at this stage what has prompted the emergency response.
The alarm was raised at around 16:45.
Visitors at the hospital say there is no obvious sign of fire.
UPDATE @ 17:22 – It has been confirmed that the incident is being deemed a false alarm.
Crews are now standing down.
