Paramedics have been called to a 2-car collision on a busy crossroad junction in Shanklin this afternoon (Thursday).
The incident – involving a blue Suzuki Swift and what is thought to be a Toyota Corolla – has taken place on the traffic light junction at the bottom of Arthur’s Hill, where the road meets with North Road, Hope Road and Atherley Road.
No one is thought to have been seriously injured but the occupants of the vehicles are being checked over by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Traffic is building in the area.
UPDATE @ 14:26 – 2 Police units are now also on scene and have arranged for the recovery of the vehicles involved, 1 of which has come to a stop in the middle of the junction.
Traffic remains heavy and slow.
I really don’t know what’s wrong with people who drive cars on this island. Has someone jumped the lights? So many accidents. Total incompetence.
Sounds like one of the drivers went through a red light then …..
The council only repainted those railings 2 weeks ago!!
