HM Coastguard conducted a shoreline search between Seaview and Appley this morning (Wednesday) following reports of palm oil being sighted on the beach.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team headed to Ryde Beach at first light to investigate the pollution reports.
Pet Doctors Isle of Wight warned on their Facebook Page last night that they had been made aware of the sightings.
This type of pollutant can be extremely dangerous to dogs and the Coastguard are warning anyone walking their dogs in the area to keep a careful eye out.

Clare it is because you misunderstood. It is ever since the council planted all those Palm trees swaying majestically in front of Sandown ‘zoo’ that this has occurred. Likely all the bountiful coconuts rolling into the crashing surf, and the cocoanut oil being churned into palm oil being the likely cause.
