Firefighters are tackling a large fire in the open that has spread across downland in the rural village of Brook this evening (Friday).
3 appliances from Newport and Freshwater are on scene near the grand Brook House alongside water carriers from Freshwater and Ventnor.
The incident began around 18:30.
Firefighters are currently using main jets to bring the situation under control.
It’s understood the fire began as a result of a bonfire spreading to the nearby surroundings.
Hope whoever lit the bonfire is charged for repairing all the damaged land etc and for the fire crews.
Easy, ban bonfires. Unnecessary as the tip has all the kit to allow disposal. Booking system is easy and quick to use. Only someone one brain cell and their head up their arse would down vote this comment.
Well, that’s me then.
Nothing wrong with bonfires.
Some people even enjoy them.
Few beers and a sausage or two.
Who needs a nanny state, when we have got a*** holes like you ?
