The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is inviting all nurses, past and present, to come together in celebration of International Nurses Day on 12th May 2014.
International Nurses Day is a time to celebrate the dedication and hard work of all nurses and raise awareness of their work. It is a day for nurses to feel proud and for us all to show our appreciation and support for these professions.
The Trust is inviting all current and retired nurses and AHPs across the Island to ‘Come Dine with Us’ on the 12th May 2014, between 08:00-16:45 at the Education Centre, St Mary’s Hospital. There will be a free networking breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea followed by motivational discussion sessions. The day will share best evidence-based practices and clinical expertise in care and offer some well deserved pampering such as a relaxing massage.
12th May is synonymous with the Birthday of Florence Nightingale and will be celebrated around the World. The nursing profession has a close link with Allied Health Professionals (AHP’s) and so all AHPs are invited to attend.
The motivational discussion sessions available are:
Accountability in practice – Di Francis from the Royal College of Nursing will provide an interactive event looking at accountability in the workplace.
A Tweetorial, #TheUseOfTwitter – Alan Sheward, Executive Director of Nursing & Workforce will provide a good insight into how social media is being used to promote nursing and best practice.
Personal Development – Sandie Paice, Practice Development Co-ordinator will present an opportunity to explore the provision for personal development over the forthcoming years.
Alan Sheward, Executive Director of Nursing & Workforce said:
“This is a really big celebration for all current and retired nurses and AHPs, whether they have or do still work for St Mary’s Hospital, in the community, within Nursing homes, Dental or GP practices. This is a day for them and we want to pull them all together to Come Dine with Us and celebrate the dedication and hard work they have provided for many years. It will be an opportunity for them to build relationships, reminisce with past colleagues, share stories and celebrate success and innovation.”
Forging professional links on the Island can be difficult especially if you are a Nurse or AHP and not linked to the NHS. All Nurses and AHP’s, irrespective of whether they are employed by the NHS on the Island, are invited to spend time with their colleagues. The Isle of Wight NHS Trust recognises it plays a key role in maintaining and developing integrated services and this event will help to strengthen these links and hopefully build new and exciting opportunities.
The 12th May will be an open day from 08:00–16:45, however to book onto any of motivational discussion sessions or to book a massage email [email protected] or telephone 01983 534850.
