Newport Rowing Club has marked the end of a historic season by collecting the Hants & Dorset ARA Championship award at Junior status for the very first time.
The club travelled to Southampton on Saturday to receive the prestigious accolade, which is awarded to the crew that achieves the most wins throughout the regatta season.
The winning crew was made up of Mariana Hare (cox), Boris Hare, Connor Garner, Jake Garner, Nathaniel Hamilton and Eric Williams.
Adding to the club’s success, Mariana Hare was also named Cox of the Year – the first time a Newport cox has ever received the honour.
This double achievement rounds off a remarkable season for Newport Rowing Club.
