A 40-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident at a block of flats in Newport earlier today (Friday).
Police were called just after 11:00 to reports of a disturbance inside an address on Hunnyhill.
Both the marked and unmarked Armed Response Vehicles (ARV) were in attendance at the scene, alongside several patrol cars.
Officers – who at one point were armed with the ‘big red key’ – entered the property located within a block of flats and arrested the 40-year-old from Newport on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary visited a property in the area back in September and arrested a man of the exact same age on suspicion of causing harassment without violence and for sending communications of an indecent/offensive nature.
Following today’s incident, the male remains in custody at this time.
