A recent Sunday afternoon concert by The Newchurch Male Voice Choir – and singer Luisa Jane – raised £700 in the retiring collection from the audience that filled the Newport Methodist Church, in support of the Daisy Ring Bus.
The Choir, led by Musical Director Roy Bevan, sang an entertaining mixture of songs including a West Side Story melody, Gareth Malones ‘Where are you now’, also ‘I believe’, ‘She’, ‘Sweet Caroline’, ‘When the Saints go marching in’, ending with ‘Let there be Peace on Earth’.
Luisa Jane performed the war time vintage songs ‘White Cliffs of Dover’, ‘We’ll meet again’ ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’.
Bob Cooper for the Choir said:
“The generosity of the audience in donating this £700 expresses the vital need for this service for the Island’s patients going over to Southampton Hospital and we thank the voluntary group for giving us this lifeline”
