Ryde-based dental practice Denbigh House has announced that it has been sold to a well-known local name, who has expressed his commitment to continuing NHS treatments. Denbigh House, one of the oldest practices in the UK, has been a dental practice since 1877 and has a team dedicated to treating its NHS patients. It serves around 13% of the Island’s population. It is also the only practice training dental professionals, dentists, nurses, technicians and therapists. The practice – which went up for sale 2 years ago – has now managed to secure a local buyer with huge experience in the dental field, Edward Day. Mr Day, a laboratory owner and technician of Ryde, already owns a successful private dental practice in the heart of Newport and already owns a dental laboratory. Many patients would have already noticed renovations in full swing and plans to update, modernise and expand the George Street practice are underway and going well. With NHS Dentistry on the Isle of Wight at an all-time low and 5 NHS practices on the Island closing or going private in the last year, Edward is dedicated to keep providing NHS treatment to all registered patients at the practice. Denbigh House is also to remain a training centre for newly qualified dentists.

“Denbigh House, …is dedicated to keep providing NHS treatment”…
Ahh,..I’ve heard that line before (recently)
They’ll be private only by this time next year…
“providing NHS treatment to all registered patients at the practice”… yeah, but what about the 10s of thousands on the IOW who have been ditched by their previous NHS provider…& now can’t get registered anywhere…
Oh yeah,.. there’s a mobile bus comming…. (but only if you’re on benfits)
Great news, wish them well, although I am sure they will be overrun …..
Read the post
They’ll be overrun with requests but there’s nothing in the article about accepting new NHS patients, only registered ones.
