After more than 30 years of owning and operating Appley Manor, the current owners have announced the successful sale of the much-loved establishment.
In a statement released today, Sarah & Charlie Asher and Paul & Ali Brown have expressed their deep gratitude to the customers, staff, and community who have supported the hotel throughout its 30-year journey.
But the time has come to step away from the business and pass it on to new ownership.
Ian Paxton, who has hospitality experience with the Cocky Anchor pubs in Southampton and Worcester, has now taken the helm.
It’s said that the 46-year-old, who also operates a contracting company, will bring fresh ideas, while maintaining the high standards of service and hospitality that guests have come to expect from Appley Manor over the decades.
Speaking about their retirement, the Asher and Brown family have said:
“This decision has not been an easy one. Appley Manor has been far more than a business to us. It has been a second home, a place filled with laughter, celebrations, hard work and countless cherished memories. We have had the privilege of welcoming generations of guests and working alongside an extraordinary team who have become like family.
“To our loyal customers, thank you for your trust, your continued support and the many stories you have shared within our walls. Many of you arrived as guests and left as friends. Your loyalty over the decades has meant more to us than words can express.”
“To our incredible staff, thank you for your dedication, professionalism and heart. It is your warmth and commitment that built the reputation we are so proud of today. Any success we have enjoyed has been because of you.”
“Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives and for making these 30 years so incredibly special.”

Ian Paxton, the new owner of Appley Manor, says:
“I am honoured to be entrusted with continuing the legacy of Appley Manor Hotel. My focus is on maintaining the warm hospitality people know and love, while thoughtfully building for the future.”
The Manor was originally built in 1850 as a grand Victorian gentleman’s residence, before becoming a boys’ preparatory school for some 70 years. The building was partially destroyed by fire in 1993.
When the Brown family purchased the property, it was derelict. They added an extension and transformed the site into the characterful inn it is today.
At full capacity, Appley Manor can cater for 194 covers and boasts a 12-bedroom hotel. It is thought that per annum, as many as 60,000 meals are served.

Could always cash in like many hotels on the
mainland are doing.
What does “cash in” involve?
Fill it with migrants, plenty of hotels
in Bournemouth are doing well.
All year round custom, not seasonal.
What a money maker.
“Cash in” meaning what? The article just says it’s been sold after 30 years of running it. Sounds more like retirement than whatever you’re hinting at.
