The Neutrik building in Ryde is up for sale, 10 months after plans to change its use and create a retail space were revealed.
Back in May, Island Echo exclusively reported that there had been some contact between Neutrik and high street retailer B&M.
Planning documents showed that Neutrik sought to expand the potential optional uses of the building and it was understood that fitters had been measuring up, only for the application to be withdrawn some 3 months later after several objections were made including from German supermarket Lidl.
But now, some 10 months after the staff were told they were to lose their jobs, the premises is up for sale for a whopping £2.4million.
The property has an office block offering accommodation and reception areas to the ground and first floor overlooking the A3055 (Brading Road), whilst to the rear of this are staff areas including WC’s, a shower, kitchen and staff rooms.
The property has 2 full height roller shutter doors for goods in/out to the North elevation and boasts around 100 parking spaces as well as cycle bays.
Should the site be configured, then the unit has the potential to suit occupiers needs or even split into individual units to be leased separately, should permissions allow.
Why don’t they turn this into apartment’s /Flats and where the roller doors are, could be parking gets cars off the road, also in the grounds surrounding a children’s safe pay park .. Think outside the box for a change developers and council planning department. .
In the middle of an industrial estate…In a building designed as a small factory, not a building with the requisite infrastructure for housing.

A nightclub/venue would be much better where local bands can practice in the week and clubbers can dance there socks off on the weekend. Theres nothing for the youth of today, no wonder they all get into drugs
Yes because what the island really needs is more crumby flats. Be best to turn it into an asylum centre for the poor immigrants. They can then be integrated into the island and get a low paid job working at some local attraction in the summer months. then live on the dole for the rest of the year.
