Nights are drawing in and so now is the perfect time to book yourself in for some of these wonderful shows to cheer those autumn evenings…
Get ready for an evening of mystery, mayhem and murder when CAODS brings Norman Robbins’ hilarious comedy thriller Tiptoe Through the Tombstones to the stage at Trinity Theatre on various dates from 1st through to 10th October.
Set in the wonderfully gloomy surroundings of the Tomb family mansion, the play brings together a collection of unsuspecting relatives, all waiting to discover what they have inherited. But when crusty old lawyer Mortimer Crayle arrives with his secretary Zoe, it soon becomes clear that there is much more at stake than simply dividing up the family fortune.
As fog closes in around the house, mysterious disappearances, secret passageways and poisoned drinks begin to make an appearance. With nobody quite sure who can be trusted, and the number of bodies in the cellar steadily increasing, the Tomb family inheritance becomes a decidedly dangerous business!
Packed with dark humour, eccentric characters, twists and plenty of surprises, Tiptoe Through the Tombstones promises to be a wonderfully entertaining night of comedy and suspense.
So come along, keep your wits about you, and whatever you do… don’t drink anything you’re offered … unless you get it from the bar of course! Tickets are available from trinitytheatrecowes.org or by calling 01983 295229.

GetOnStage’s young performers present The Last School Show on 24th and 25th – perfect for half term – at Northwood Village Hall. The show follows six young people in the drama club at
East Gonet School. When they return after the summer holidays to discover that their drama teacher isn’t coming back, the future of drama at their school is suddenly thrown into doubt.
Over five days, the group fight to save the one place where they feel they can truly belong. Along the way, we discover more about each of them: their lives, their struggles at school, their mental health, their insecurities and the challenges they often keep hidden from those around them.
At its heart, The Last School Show is a story about friendship, acceptance and the power of teamwork. Through humour, drama and original music, it explores how the arts can give young people a voice, a community and the confidence to be themselves.
With script, music and lyrics by Luke Mulhern, Co-Founder of Get On Stage, The Last School Show is an original musical that celebrates the importance of the arts and the difference they can make in the lives of young people. Tickets are available from www.getonstage.co.uk
Another great half term treat is Apollo Youth Theatre’s The Jungle Book, coming to the Apollo Theatre from 23rd October -1st November, bringing to life some of Kipling’s jungle stories in a colourful and artistic way.
The Jungle Book is a classic collection of stories written by English author Rudyard Kipling and first published in 1894. Most of the tales focus on Mowgli, an orphaned “man-cub” raised by wolves in the Seoni region of India. The work uses animal fables to explore moral lessons, identity, and the delicate balance between civilisation and nature.
If you think The Jungle Book is just for children, think again. This adaptation is true to the real story, using Kipling’s rich language, and the darkness that is the lore of the jungle. Be pleasantly surprised as the talented Apollo Youth Theatre’s members bring this tale live on stage.

Curtain Up’s comedy drama The Butler Did It will be staged on 31st October and 1st November at Freshwater Memorial Hall. The scene is the set where Anthony J. Lefcourt, writer and director, is rehearsing his new play, a “classic whodunit” (in which all the characters are named Butler) with which he hopes to regain the success that has eluded him in recent seasons.
Desperately eager to stimulate his cast to their best efforts, he has deliberately withheld the final scene of the play from them, but his patience is worn thin by the petty jealousies and romantic rivalries that detract from their concentration.
In an effort to spur them on he “stages” the murder of one of the actresses, after which the plot begins to twist and turn with such dazzling ingenuity—and hilarity—that soon actors and audience alike have lost track of what is real and what is make-believe—until a surprise ending sets matters straight in a most bizarre and ironic way.
