‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ will be helping raise money for charity at The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival this weekend (19th-20th August).
The amazing replica of the flying car, which starred in the 1968 film, will be delighting visitors to The Garlic Farm and taking some lucky people for rides, in exchange for a charitable donation.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s owner Nick Pointing is a member of the Sporting Bears. These owners of classic and sports cars belonging to the club bring their cars to Island events and invite people to take Dream Rides in them. Dream cars making an appearance at The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival will include a Lamborghini and Ferrari along with American and British classics.
Wightlink supports the owners to transport their cars across the Solent and has helped the Bears raise more than £7,500 on the Island alone. Nationally, the car enthusiasts have raised £1.8 million over the last 27 years.
Island charities supported by the Sporting Bears include:
• Joe Ellis Trust – supporting children on the Island fighting cancer
• Challenge and Adventure – helping teenagers who need support
• Beaulieu House – providing respite care for severely disabled children
• YMCA Young Carers – supporting children caring for a seriously ill family member
Wightlink’s Director of Business Development, Clive Tilley said:
“We are looking forward to seeing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival and hope visitors give generously to support the children’s charities”.
