Southern Vectis is offering its support to local charities, schools, sports teams and events organisers, as part of a good causes initiative.
The bus operator’s Community Fund – now open – is a dedicated resource for backing local causes with funding, marketing help, free travel or the use of its buses for events.
Southern Vectis general manager, Richard Tyldsley, said:
“At Southern Vectis we’re proud to play an integral role within the local community.
“As well as providing award-winning bus services across the island, we endeavour to support and raise awareness for those doing excellent work on behalf of those living here.
“The Southern Vectis Community Fund is open to everyone – from charities to sports teams – and we encourage anyone who needs a helping hand, however big or small, to apply.
“For 2026, we have increased the amount we are donating from £500 to £750 on three separate months – February, July and November – instead of the previous two months.”
To apply, groups should visit Southern Vectis’ website and provide details about their cause, what they need, and the difference this support might make to their organisation. Winners will be announced in August.

Southern Vectis is badly managed.
You only have to look at all the large double decker
buses running around the island with only an handful
of customers on them.

On many routes Southern Vectis need to run minibuses
and 1 could easily operate on an Havenstreet route.

So you’re saying that the buses aren’t full enough, so therefore they should put on more buses. I’m never quite sure on your stance enough is enough, you’re very contradicting and at times very hypocritical. I think you just like being heard regardless of what you’re saying.

If you have money to waste on charities, then you are charging the hard working bus users too much – cut the fares and support those who actually work and pay taxes
