Four motorcycle accidents in two days. I wonder if any are from the gang of 125 pitbike riders using Ryde as a race track. One flew past me on quarry road with his mate on the back, was not wearing a helmet. And on L plates, so not allowed to have a pillion. A day ago, one riding up St Johns Hill with NO exhaust on. This was not a loud exhaust, it was NO exhaust! Police need to catch these hooligans before they kill someone or themselves.
More of this ahoy as filling chavmobiles becomes increasingly unaffordable to the moronic demographic.Ryde suffering from this summer blight increasingly.
Wishing everyone involved a speedy recovery. Who’s fault was this? Bad car drivers or island roads?
Speaking as a motorcyclist myself theres any number of reasons that accidents happen. There seems to be a lot of grit/gravel on many roads at the moment, especially of fields and farm vehicals. That’s more than inconvenient mid corner! We wernt there, we dont know, just hope they’re both ok.
As a motorcyclist myself – exactly the right answer Old School, however it wont fit the narrative of the usual low IQ/senile/ban everything/NIMBY brigade
What about bad motorcyclists instead of trying to pass the blame onto road surfaces or cars, ride to the conditions and within the speed limits if not that is where the fault lies.
When do you ever see a motorcyclist riding WITHIN the speed limit, hardly ever. Speeding seems to be a constant problem on this island not only in cars but on bikes too. We will have to wait for the outcome as to why these 2 bikes crashed. Let’s hope it was not because they were riding like absolute d*cks!
You don’t know the facts best to keep your opinion to your self I think
What a dick,@@@
What ever people say most motorcyclist are very skilled riders and considering how many are out there they do not have nowhere the amount of accidents as daily car drivers. Everyday a car hits something or comes off the road or roll cars so I think we should all consentrate on bad car driving on the island and leave the bikes alone. You do get the minority of motorcyclist usually young that do spoil it with noise and speed in the wrong places but normaly they are young kids that just in there minds having fun. We have all been there and have grown up.
Motorcyclists are said to use their mirrors more than car drivers. They (if also drove cars, etc ) have had to sit 2 test if not on L plates. Can’t throw rubbish out windows. Including ciggy butt’s.
would that include the two idiots with l plates doing wheelies in front of the ryde bowling alley this afternoon or were they very skilled riders demonstrating their bike handling skills.
been 14 crashes in 5 days… 10 for cars.. 4 motorcycles… brilliant road users… !! And they allegedly passed a driving test ? Wonder how many will be able to claim on insurance… ? Be great if Island Echo could report on that !!
Hopefully they won’t get insurance and stay off the roads.
Since everybody loves to speculate, here’s my wild random guess
“Hey mate, the sun’s finally out! why don’t we leave our 4X4 on the drive today and dig out our Yamakawasuzonda 1200 Turbos from the back of the garage where they’ve been rotting under a blanket for 6 months, fling on our stiff and ever tightening Rossi-esque leathers and launch ourselves onto the highly fecked up road surfaces that we haven’t experienced on 2 wheels since the end of last August and naah, don’t worry about the tire pressures, brake functions or oil levels mate, I Bet I can get to Freshwater faster than you…“
Stay safe my friends, see you on the road
When we get the dedicated road police unit for the Island hopefully some of the anti social bike riding and car driving will be stopped and these idiots have their bikes taken off the road. Every summers the same, mindless idiots riding around and around no wonder when ever a race is mentioned its always stopped, these morons spoil it for genuine riders.
At just a quick look, there seem to have been 6 accidents involving cars in the last few days. Island roads are now apparently the most dangerous outside London according to accident stats. Perhaps our new Road Policing officers ( all 2 of them) should be taking a look.
