Motorists are facing even longer delays heading in and out of Newport as a result of a crash at Racecourse Roundabout this evening (Monday).
A motorcycle is said to have become wedged underneath a Ford Transit tipper van just off the busy roundabout where traffic from Ryde, Newport and East Cowes converges.
The motorcyclist is not thought to be trapped and is described as ‘walking wounded’.
There are already delays in the area this evening as a result of the overnight switch of the one-way system on Staplers Road, with all traffic leaving Newport now having to divert via Fairlee Road or Blackwater.
UPDATE @ 17:55 – Emergency services are on scene at Racecourse including 1 fire appliance from Newport, which has been mobilised for scene safety due to a fuel leak.

We just passed by and everyone looked ok. Bike was well and truly wedged under van
Ambulance haven’t been requested but still had 2 on scene ♂️
