The driver of a car that overturned in Godshill this morning (Sunday) suffered only minor injuries.
At just before 07:00, police and ambulance crews responded to West Street in Godshill following reports of an incident involving just 1 vehicle.
The incident in question saw a blue Citroen overturn onto its roof.
Confirmed by the police, the injuries sustained by those involved were only minor and the busy road towards Whitwell was only closed for a short time – until 10:20 – whilst recovery of the vehicle took place.

More idiots will be along soon…
Look out, here comes Mr Perfect, with his exceedingly limited vocabulary range!
Woah there, don’t be too hasty with your pronouns. It’s a minefield out there!
So how do you over turn a car with 4 wheels 1 in each corner seems easily done,a motorcycle yes rider falls of bike goes over understand that principle but a car I have driven for 45 years can’t get the hang of putting a car on its roof even in the 70s when cars where bad and only had medieval brakes and cross ply tyres .
It’s easy, you take your eye of your phone for a split second and over you go
No good going to the hospital.
Its closed, they’re dealing with an emergency dont you know.
More bad driving on the IW
More bad swearing on the IW
Isn’t the whole of Godshill a 20 mph zone???
Yes it is a 20 mph speed limit
not if you’re pissed up on half a bottle of Bell’s at 8:45am it isn’t
It appears the normal rules of gravity and magnetic attraction differ or don’t apply in the normal sense on the island. Just about every day there is a story about vehicle ending up on its roof. Whats up with just having a normal upright crash?
Where do you get the entry form for the car rolling comp??
To fast the numpty must of been heavy on the right foot ,,,,,, idiot
Another car on its roof on the Isle of Wight. Ho hum.
Do the Island roads now have hydraulic jacks in them?
Not a week seems to go by without a car on its roof, fail to understand how rhis happens as cars, as i recall, are fairly hefty beasts.
Maybe drover in these incidents should have an eye test and resit their driving test at the very least!
Island Echo should seriously consider having a separate car crash section. We could rate them for presentation, and originality. Then the weeks winner gets to drink a pint of brake fluid.
Island echo is the car crash section!
I saw the police car on my way to work this morning (9am)
Not on its roof I hope!
That must have been exciting for you.
I saw the car at 0710 when I was on my motorbike how it managed to do it must have been drunk.
Going to fast is the only way that happens.cant roll a car doing 30mph.
You’d be surprised you can roll a car at under 10mph quite easy if your not paying attention.
