A medical emergency at a popular pub in Ryde has seen emergency services respond to the town centre this afternoon (Monday), with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance scrambled from the mainland.
Police, fire crews and paramedics are all on scene outside the Wetherspoons pub on Union Street.
It was just before 17:00 that the alarm was raised, prompting the large-scale blue light response.
Flying medics from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance touched down on the playing fields of Ryde School at just before 17:30.

They are now supporting the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service which has 2 ambulances and an operational commander in attendance – supported by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service on a medical response.
UPDATE @ 18:14 – Island Echo understands a male was found unresponsive in the toilets at just before 17:00, with members of the public commencing CPR ahead of the arrival of emergency services.
A defibrillator from Denbigh House on George Street was collected, with nurses and a dentist assisting in the initial emergency care.
HIOWAA has now stood down from the incident, without conveying the patient to hospital.
Other resources are also standing down.
Wetherspoons remains open as normal.

Hopefully not due to the inhalation of the
usual persons smoking and vaping in the
doorway of Spoons, such a turn off entering
such an establishment.
How strange, yesterday, Monday, there was an ambulance parked in the exact same place, with his blue light on, at 12.21pm. Was that another incident in Wetherspoons?
Probably a customer suffering from open wallet
surgery after seeing Spoons price increases due
to the recent Labour budget.
That made me chuckle 🙂
