A large amount of cancer charity bags and a Beryl e-Scooter have been dumped in a stream in Binstead over the weekend.
The haul of charity bags belonging to Cancer Care Trust has been chucked in the brook just off Binstead Lodge Road, where a Beryl e-Scooter has also been discarded – despite their being a Beryl station on nearby Binstead Road.
The Isle of Wight Council has been approached by a concerned member of the public but the local authority has said that the issue needs to be reported to the Environment Agency as it has occurred on land that isn’t owned by the Council in the main Binstead Water Course.
This comes just a few weeks after data from Defra revealed that fly-tipping incidents on the Island increased by 48% in the latest dataset.
It is likely the person responsible for handing out the charity bags has instead decided to ditch them, rather than going door-to-door distributing them.
Cancer Care Trust has been approached for a comment but at the time of publication hasn’t replied.
UPDATE – A local good samaritan has confirmed that the discarded charity bags have been collected and placed into black bags, in a bid to clean up the area.
The young mum says she has been left disgusted by the actions of the individuals or individuals responsible and says that it’s not the sort of place you would ride an e-Scooter, leading her to think it had been purposely dumped there.
The scooter is not the councils responsibility? Passing the buck….
Possibly identify them by checking the Beryl database for the scooter and the data from the Charity bag distributer. Should get a name match.

Not true. To use the E Scooters you must have an account with Beryl. You need to use the app to unlock the scooters everytime. So unless this person was just pushing an escooter around then there will be a record

One wonders if this was a person who was given a community sentence to do unpaid work? I am sure even an amateur sleuth could figure out who the person with no morals is that did this. Absolute pond life who deserves to be amongst the effluent that is piped out into these streams nowadays.
Whilst condemning fly tipping of any sort i have to say it is the appropriate place for that scooter.

If we had free public transport you would not need these scooters. But that would mean spending our tax money on us instead of sending it aboard for bribes under the guise of aid.
The scooters are not free to use.
As for Free public transport, who’s paying for it.
Wages for drivers, maintenance crew, fuel, road tax, insurance.
As for trains, I over look the railway lines and I’ve seen plenty of trains go past with no passengers on,
The council just dumps people in hmos , unfit to exist in. Maybe that is root of problem.
